This takes the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 4,45,53,042 since the start of the pandemic.
With an increase of 126 cases from the previous day, India’s active caseload rose to 46,342. Union Health Ministry data Thursday morning.
Active cases comprise 0.10 per cent of the total infections.
The 26 new people include five from Maharashtra and one each from Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Kerala, with 12 deaths reported from Kerala.
The total death toll in the country since the start of the pandemic now stands at 5,28,429.
The health ministry said that with 5,291 recoveries from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the national recovery rate stands at 98.71 per cent. The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 4,39,78,271.
The daily positivity rate has been recorded at 1.61 percent while the weekly positivity rate has been 1.73 percent.
According to the Health Ministry, 217.11 crore Kovid vaccination doses have been given in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign.
India’s COVID-19 tally crossed one crore mark in December 2020, 20 million in May last year and 30 million in June 2021. The four crore mark was crossed in January this year.
