Militants hurled a grenade at a police post in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district in the early hours of Tuesday, following which the police and army launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
Sources said the grenade exploded on the roof of the police post, leaving no one injured.
Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh said, “A grenade exploded near the premises of Police Chowki Ind, which comes under the jurisdiction of Thana Gool.”
Earlier, police sources had told that a country-made bomb was hurled at the police post.
The ADGP said that the Jammu and Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF) has claimed responsibility for the attack in a letter.
He said Special Operations Group (SOG) and Army teams have been deployed for the cordon and search operation.
An alert has been issued in the district and a case has been registered.
